Why Adopt Wellbeing First?

Making and sustaining lifestyle change is hard. Patients need trusted, accessible education; teams need low-lift tools that reinforce advice without adding admin. Wellbeing First gives your population a single hub for self-management while offering staff their own mirrored portal.

We understand that everyone is different and goes at their own pace. With this in mind, we also understand that what is important to individuals can change over time. This is why we provide access to a wide variety of relevant, translatable, accessible tools from the start.

Wellbeing First:

  • Supports self-management for lifestyle and long-term conditions
  • Gives patients support between appointments so clinicians can focus on complex needs
  • Reduces signposting and improves access to trustworthy information
  • Improves access & equity (mobile-first, translatable, accessible)
  • Aligns with priorities (prevention, digital-first, LTC support, staff wellbeing)
  • Provides engagement reporting to inform best practices and areas for improvement

Included Features

The right tools change everything. Wellbeing First helps users decide what is most important to them and how to plan ahead in line with their values and priorities, boosting confidence.

Educational Courses

Users can make their way through our variety of health and wellbeing courses (incl. general and long-term condition specific self-management courses), earning certificates and achievements as they progress - patients progress at their own pace; staff can use the mirrored portal for their own health and wellbeing.

Why?
The 2024 GP Patient Survey National Report found that almost one third of patients living with long-term conditions felt like they did not have enough support from local services to manage their conditions. Our courses allow users to improve on or revisit information that could benefit their health and wellbeing.

Nutrition and Fitness Resources

Users can make their way through our variety of nutrition & fitness resources (incl. general and long-term condition specific related resources) to build healthier routines and reduce lifestyle-related risk.

Why?  Living a healthy lifestyle is incredibly important for longevity, general health and wellbeing, regardless of whether you live with a long-term condition. NHS England states that 80% of heart disease, stroke and type 2 diabetes cases and 33% of cancers could be prevented by following a healthy lifestyle. Our resources allow users to improve on or revisit information that could benefit their physical health, particularly if they live with a long-term condition and are at an increased risk of lifestyle related complications.

Mental Health & Wellbeing Resources

Users can make their way through our variety of mental health & wellbeing resources to support resilience and mood.

Why?  According to NHS England, one in four adults experience mental illness. The Adult Psychiatric Morbidity Survey 2014 also found that having a long-term condition was associated with lower levels of mental wellbeing. Our resources cover reflection, mindfulness, breathing and grounding activities and techniques. These can all benefit mental wellbeing. Good mental health is an essential part of health and wellbeing.

Downloadable Worksheets, Activities and Journals

Users can make their way through our variety of downloadable worksheets, activities and journals to help people apply learning and reflect on progress.

Why?  All our resources come with downloadables for users to complete at their own pace. These help put what they have learned into practice and help them gain a better understanding of what is important to them and what works for them.

Goal Setting

Users are encouraged to set personal SMART (specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and time-bound) goals throughout the courses and resources to create sustainable change.

Why?  According to NHS England, setting and achieving goals makes us feel happier, more confident, and less anxious. SMART goals also help keep us on track and accountable.

Support Portal

Users can take advantage of direct access to a Health and Wellbeing Coach via our secure support portal. This is an optional service.

Why?  Health and Wellbeing coaches can help users decide what matters most to them and how to go about achieving their goals. The 2024 GP Patient Survey National Report found that over 90% of patients who discussed what was important to them with a healthcare professional and agreed a plan going forward found it helpful. Through Wellbeing First, users can gain access to a Health and Wellbeing Coach via our messaging system. Users can contact them outside of scheduled appointments. This can give users the added support and accountability they need to achieve their goals and live a healthy, balanced lifestyle in accordance with their values.
